After a brief phone call, we can arrange an initial one hour consultation where you can share your reasons for seeking counselling in more detail. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions about; me, my approach and counselling in general.
I will ask you some questions in order to gain an understanding of what's worrying you and the way your thought processes work. All of the information obtained will be used to help you in future sessions. Some questions I may ask include:
Why are you seeking counselling?
What is your current situation and personal history?
What symptoms are you experiencing
Sessions can take place in person or online or a mixture of both. For couples counselling it will always be in-person when you are seen together.
Sessions are usually held weekly and may reduce to fortnightly as we come towards an ending.
Prior to the initial consultation I will email you my counselling agreement which includes information about confidentiality, cancellation and contact outside of the session time.
