counselling

I offer a free initial consultaion for us to meet, I will ask you for some personal details and outline the counselling process to you. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions about; me, my approach and counselling in general. If we want to proceed, we will arrange a weekly one hour time slot to meet.

I charge £50 per session for individuals and £60 per session for couples.

In your first session I will ask you some questions in order to gain an understanding of what's worrying you and the way your thought processes work. All of the information obtained here will be used to help you in future sessions. Some questions I may ask include:

Why are you seeking counselling?

What is your current situation and personal history?

What symptoms are you experiencing?

I will establish some clear boundaries when you begin your sessions that cover:

  • dates and times of the counselling sessions

  • confidentiality agreement

  • clarification of the professional nature of the counsellor/client relationship

  • how and when I can be contacted outside of sessions

  • cancellation policy

  • privacy policy

Couples Counselling

The overall aim of couples counselling is to help you:

  • Understand how external factors such as family values, religion, lifestyle and culture affect your relationship

  • Reflect on the past and how it operates in the present

  • Communicate in a more constructive way

  • Learn why arguments escalate

  • Negotiate and resolve conflicts where possible

Mediation is the best option to resolve conflicts when the relationship has broken down. Individual counselling, alongside mediation, may also be useful to work though the adjustment.
